What is the Wellness Center? |
Wellness Center Goals |
Wellness is the area at Connections that focuses on the physical and emotional well being of our clients. By providing therapies and time for them to focus on themselves, we're able to help our clients feel happier and healthier throughout the entire week!
Community RecreationWe love a quick game of hoops with friends. Public recreation centers offer a great place to play indoors and make new friends.
In-House RecSome of our recreation activities take place here at the program. It isn't necessary to leave the building to order to have fun.The In-House Rec groups do a variety of fun things like playing with the parachute and Fruit Ninja on the X-Box.
Sensory IntegrationMany of us could benefit from taking the time to practice Sensory Integration activities. Practicing these simple and enjoyable activities such as untying knots from a rope, playing with kinetic sand, getting a hand massage, or beading improve the brain's ability to process the information it is receiving through our senses while we engage in them.
YogaYoga helps us unite our mind and body. When this happens we think more clearly and our movements flow more easily. Additionally, yoga also helps us to become more aware of our body's posture and alignment.

The goal in Wellness is that everyone who visits the area leaves happy, healthy, and full of energy!
FitnessKeeping active is one of the best things we can do for ourselves. Our lucky participants have the opportunity to stay in shape by taking fitness classes in the Wellness building. We customize their workout to fit their needs and maximize the results.
Occupational Therapy/Physical TherapyMany of the participants that come in to Wellness have their own physical therapy requirements. It’s our job to make sure that they achieve their goals. We work very hard to make everyone feel welcome and to make it an enjoyable experience. SwimmingSwimming is an extremely healthy activity that most anyone is able to participate in at one level or another. Swimming works practically every muscle in the body. In addition to the physical benefits there are many psychological benefits from swimming such as relaxation and meditation. In addition to traditional swimming, participants can participate in a variety of water activities which can all be done without the weight of their bodies holding them back.
